Quilting Books & Magazines
I am a book
junkie. Ask anyone who knows me. I decorate my house with
books. Of course, this is unintentional; it's just that they
happen to be piled everywhere. My budget won't allow me to buy
every book I see so I've developed a few strategies to develop my
personal library without breaking the bank. I
always make
a list. I like to keep my lists in a 4 x 6 notebook but a 4 x 6
index card works well, too. These fit easily into your purse and
you can keep them at hand near the computer. Why a list?
Because I like to browse through the book first before I buy it to be
sure it's a title I *really* want in my library. I want my quilt
book library to be filled with titles that I'll use and refer to again
and again. I'm going for quality not quantity. My
next step after I've heard about a quilting book I might be interested in
is to check it out the from the library. If the library doesn't
have it, I'll check out the contents on my next trip to the quilt
store. The reason I do it this way is to avoid being
disappointed. Quilting books are expensive and sometimes a book
sounds *so* promising but then doesn't live up to my
expectations. Then I have buyers remorse thinking I should have
bought fabric instead because I'd get more use out of the fabric than
the book I just bought. Maybe that's just my own quirk from
having lived on such a tight budget for so many years. Buy
