My Quilting Journal - Online

When I was a young girl, my grandmother taught me how to embroider and bought me my first sewing machine. My mom tried to teach me to knit. However, I’m a lefty and I had a hard time catching on from her example. Both my grandmother & my mom fueled in me a love of crafting of all sorts--cross stitch, crewel embroidery, plastercraft, garment and costume sewing, macrame and miniatures. I have always loved sewing, fabric and quilts, though. I enjoy the whole process of making a quilt from beginning to end.  I find hand piecing & hand quilting very relaxing.  I am frequently inspired by antique quilts made from uncommon blocks in my own quilt designs.  And I'm still challenged in learning some techniques because I'm left handed.  When I learned to quilt in 2003, it ignited a passion that hasn’t been quenched since. I live and dream quilting!

Quilt Journal Cover

Shortly after I began quilting I had the idea to create a quilt journal to help me keep track of patterns I had, quilts I was working on, books I wanted to buy, supplies I needed, pages I'd received in classes on quilting techniques, tips & tutorials I'd printed from the web and more.  I even wrote up instructions for creating your own journal.  I have a large, decorated notebook that was the beginning of my quilt journal.  But like many of my best intentions, the idea was never fully realized.  The most complete (and used) section of the notebook is the WIP section.  It's the very first section and it's basically my quilting brain. It has a page or two devoted to each current work-in-progress.  It's like "command central" for my WIPs.  The only other thing I'd like to add to my notebook at this point is a spreadsheet listing my projects in order and including information about when I started, when I finished & where the quilt is now.

While thinking about revamping this website, I realized that a lot of what I wanted to put into my quilt journal was here on this site, on my blog and on my computer.  Blah, blah. Continue on from here explaining more about this site.

I hope you enjoy the resources I'm compiled here on my site.
